The year. Yeah, okay, a poor attempt at wordplay, but hey, it’s new years eve which means…Well, nothing really. A lot of people make a big hullabaloo about the day, spend a tonne of money, get super hammered, and regret a lot of it. But, it’s all for that kiss at midnight, be it with a loved one, or a random stranger at a party. Either way, it’s meant to be a magical moment – of course, after you’ve wasted hundreds of dollars.
With that said, I’m going to Niagara Falls with my fiancee! 🙂 I haven’t been since I was a kid for a hockey, maybe a baseball tournament, and it’s a romantic place to spend the few days off of work that we have. So, I figure why not? I’m not sure what we’re going to do there – I mean, of course we’ll see the falls and hit the casinos, but beyond that, I’m not sure. The hotel at which we are staying might have some kind of party in the bar, if not I’m sure we’ll find an appropriate place to spend and absurd amount of money on excessive amounts of booze. Oh, yeah, chances are there won’t be a post for a day or two. 🙂
However, New Years isn’t just a time for partying; many see it as an opportunity to start anew. They break out the pen and paper and get to their resolution. I’m not usually one to make a resolution as I’ve never really felt a change when the clock strikes midnight. Well, besides writing the previous years number on documents for the first 5 months of the year. Don’t judge me, you all do it too! But this year will be different, I think. 16 feels like a nice round number, which is easy to remember. Oh, and of course I think I’ll make a resolution as well.
Work doesn’t look good for me at the moment. New owners coming in, and the ones who are staying don’t see value in my web administration position – they’ve told me as such. So I’m thinking come the new year, I’ll be fighting hobos for scraps in alleys. But, I also see it as a chance to better myself on the writing front. I’ll put more effort into marketing the work I have published, and I’ll better the stories on which I’m currently working. With any lucky I’ll have something to show for all of my effort.
Danielle Esplin really inspired me when it came to the marketing side. She set, and ultimately blew her goals out of the water. I didn’t even know where to start when I published Lizzy. It’s taken a few years to finally feel the fire beneath my ass, but I think I’m getting into the swing of things. I revamped my Facebook Author Page, I’ve redone Lizzy, which has a fancy new matte cover for the hard copy. I started working on some unfinished projects to keep me fresh as well. I’m hoping 2016 is the year where I join the authors in my From the Mind Of… series in success. Who knows.
Now, I just wanted to mention that I’ll be releasing a short story on Smashwords in February, just in time for Valentine’s Day. It’s sort of a romantic story, so, yeah it seems fitting. It’s available for pre-order on iBooks as well. So I’ll have all that fun stuff sorted in the near future to share with you. Other than that, as I said earlier, I’ll be on hiatus for the next few days as I’ll be away without a computer. So, catch up on the Shovelcidal Maniac stories, if you haven’t already, or check out some of the interviews if you haven’t already!
Until next time, Happy New Year!
